(AP) – Victoria’s Secret has apologized for putting a Native American-style headdress on a model for its annualfashion show, after the outfit was criticized as a display of ignorance toward tribal culture and history. The company responded to the complaints over the weekend by saying it was sorry to have upset anyone and that it wouldn’t include the outfit in the show’s television broadcast next month, or in any marketing materials. Victoria’s Secret model Karlie Kloss walked onto the runway last week wearing the floor-length feathered headdress, leopard-print underwear, and high heels. She also was adorned with fringes and turquoise jewelry during a segment meant to represent the 12 months of the year—fireworks in July, rain gear for April, and a headdress for November. Kloss herself posted on Twitter that she was “deeply sorry if what I wore during the VS Show offended anyone.” Thousands of people have dropped their two cents on the outfit on the company’s Facebook page.
This week in “Native Americans bitching” we have this bullshit. First they were crying about the No Doubt video, and now they’re crying about this smoke rocking some feathers. Hey Indians! Didn’t you get all your crying done on the Trail of Tears! What the fuck are you getting so fired up for? November is National Native American Month and every time someone tries to give a shout out to the Indians you shut them down. To be honest you should be flattered Victorias Secret even thought of you guys to represent the month of November. Would you rather Victoria’s Secret dress up like a Pilgrim with small pox? Because thats what probably tells the real story of November. Bottom line is your beef with the world ended like hundreds of years ago. Just enjoy your casinos and smoking drugs inside your teepees on your reservations.
