Business Insider – Sometimes we get forwarded applications for summer internships on Wall Street that are extremely embarrassing because the applicant is totally full of themselves or completely clueless. What happens is the letters go viral and the Street passes them around in long email chains blasting the applicant. They’re always funny, but a little bit sad. That’s exactly what we thought was going to happen today when we received this one in our inbox. It turns that the cover letter originally sent to a boutique investment bank is exactly the opposite. The cover letter below is unapologetically honest and people on Wall Street are calling it one of the best letters they have seen. Everyone on the thread agrees the letter shows energy and pluck and honesty.
Every year this happens. Every year there’s some snarky shmuck who sends out an unorthodox cover letter or resume to Wall Street and the internet gets wind of it and they eat it up. Whats worse is there’s inevitably email chains where it looks like these banking assholes eat it up to. “So bold!” “We should give this guy a shot!” “I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a job on this alone!” Gimme a fucking break. If you get duped by this kinda crap you are nothing but a sucker. Like “Oh my god, ordinarily cover letters are used to point out strengths and qualities that make you a good fit for the job. This kid unexpectedly said he doesn’t have any! LOL thats so unusual!” Any hot shot finance dude who reads this “I’m not that smart and completely mediocre but I will get your lunch just so I can be around you” and thinks “Sign him up!” has gotta be some Cube Monkey going nowhere anyway. This is the kind of shtick you use when you’re running game on dumb girls at the bar to trick them into having sex with you. I mean I’m not even mad at the kid for sending it. Play on playa, try to snake it till you make it. Its like the kid last year who said he could do 35 pull ups. But the bankers who fall for it are just total jabronis.
Probably the same dudes who are Outdated Pop Culture Reference Guy who still says “Thats what she said” and likes those NFL Quarterback facebook convos.
