Bennett. Brown. Barden. Blowout.
Stoolie Russ dubbed the trio “Killa Beez” on Twitter last night & it’s perfect. They killed the Panthers, plain & simple. After the Black Unicorn wrapped up the opening drive with a gallop in the end zone, it was over. Super story Andre Brown delivered in his first taste of a feature back role while Ramses motherfucking Barden (finally!) nailed his Nicks impression. Whatever anybody thought might happen, it wasn’t over 200 yards between the two at the half. Not from a fringe RB whom the G-Men had already cut twice & a wideout who was on the chopping block halfway through the preseason.
The game was won though by the play of both Big Blue lines. Outside of a sack, I don’t even think a Carolina pass rusher was in shouting distance of Eli, while Brown had holes to hit all night long. Most importantly, as I thought could happen in my blog yesterday, Scam Newton was kept uncomfortable all game long by the front four. 3 picks, 2 sacks and only 1 more rushing yard than Manning thanks to constant pressure from JPP (who could’ve easily had 2 INTs), Tuck, Osi, Joseph & Bernard. As for the secondary, they held their own. I think the most healthy guy left is now my main man Princess. Go figure. C-Web’s got a broken hand, Hosley left soon after his pick with a hammy & Antrel threw a Bones Jones-like knee strike at a TV camera. Webster & Rolle should be ready to play at Philly in 10 days. Keith Rivers was taken out because of his balky hamstring – he & Hosley could need more time, but we’ll see.
As for right now, NY proved yet again they thrive when the world’s against them. Teams can keep claiming they gave the Giants their path to their championship. The entire NFL Network panel can pick against them. Scam Newton can keep telling the media ”It was nothing they did. It was all on us.” after a 36-7 home ass-whipping. Whatever helps you sleep at night. If everyone wants to pretend the Super Bowl champs didn’t shake off their remaining rust led by a few rookies & backups, I’m sure they won’t mind.
