Sun Sentinel - A fight over a crushed lunch left a landscaper brutally beaten by a Boca Raton city employee on Tuesday, police say. The landscaper, Raul Reynoso, 55, of North Lauderdale, was found bloody and beaten outside of the Boca Raton Public Library at 400 NW Second Ave. at about 9:18 a.m. An ambulance rushed him to Boca Raton Regional Hospital where doctors said he suffered a fractured skull, brain hemorrhaging and started seizing after the supposed slight, according to an arrest report. Despite heavy rains, the first officers on the scene said they saw a “large amount of blood on the sidewalk in front of a city truck.”
Witnesses at the library told police the fight started when the landscaper, working for the city, climbed into the rear seat of a city truck when it began raining. Reynoso thought he found shelter until Boca Raton Recreation Services Department employee, Donell Allison Jr., 33, of Lauderdale Lakes, found Reynoso in the back seat and accused the landscaper of smashing his lunch. The dispute escalated, with Allison pushing Reynoso, slamming the truck door on Reynoso’s leg and finally slamming Reynoso head first into a sidewalk, according to the report. Reynoso was taken to the hospital, where police say he was unconscious at the time of the report at about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Detectives tried to interview Allison but said he wouldn’t talk. State records show at least six previous arrests for Allison starting in 2006, including convictions of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and other battery charges. He was booked into Palm Beach County Jail on aggravated battery charges on Tuesday, where he remains in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Well obviously the key factor here is what was the lunch that got squished. If it was something like a PB&J or ham and cheese sandwich then I think the whole skull fracturing thing was a little over the top. I mean those are the types of sandwiches that you can still eat even if they’ve been flattened. There’s not too much you can do to ruin them save for ripping them apart or throwing them in the dirt or something. But if this guy had a real special lunch like, say, a turkey club and some broccoli and cheddar soup, well then I think a little violence is in order.
Listen I’ve worked landscaping before. Lunch is all you have. Lunch is the only thing that keeps you from going insane and hacking people up with the weed wacker. You look forward to it all morning, especially if you have something top notch to eat. So while I understand that braining someone over a squished lunch seems a little extreme, you gotta understand where he’s coming from. That dude just sat on the most important part of his day.
Oh what’s that? He has 6 other arrests including aggravated battery on a pregnant woman? Oh yeah fuck that guy then.
