Kyle Okposo Returns Tonight Against The Rangers

Okposo
It’s been 20 games since Kyle Okposo has suited up for the Isles. Turns out then when your eyeball is falling out of your head, I guess it’s hard to play hockey. He seemed to be doing just fine to me right before the surgery but I suppose you probably shouldn’t risk going blind.

In any event the Isles went 11-8-1 in the time he was gone. It was a collective team effort to rise up during his absence highlighted by the emergence of Anders Lee. Lee was named February’s Rookie of the Month with 15 points in 15 games. Thanks to him, JT establishing himself as a very realistic Hart Trophy candidate, and the ever present 4th line, the Islanders barely missed a step during KO’s absence.

And so now here we are, a 5th showdown with the Rangers with both teams sitting atop the Metro. The Rangers with their shiny new toy from the deadline deal, and the Islanders get back maybe the best 1-2 punch in all of hockey. Okposo returns to bolster a team that is already neck and neck with all the best clubs in all of hockey with 90 points. Regaining your second best player, fresh for the remaining 14 games of the regular season into the post season Stanley Cup run. In the words of Billy Madison, now you’re all in big, big trouble.
