Daily NewsCraig T. Nelson is returning to the sidelines for a new season of the ’90s sitcom “Coach.” NBC brass said the 70-year-old actor will reprise his role as D1 football coach Hayden Fox in a story that picks up around two decades after the original show ended. “Coach Hayden Fox, in the present day, has retired from coaching. He is called back to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy league school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team,” NBC said, according to EW.com. The show’s 13 episodes will be shot in traditional multi-cam style, is being headed up by original executive producer Barry Kemp. There was no word on whether co-stars Jerry Van Dyke, who played defensive coordinator Luther, Bill Fagerbakke, who played jock doofus Dauber, or any other original cast members would return for the new show. Nelson recently ended a successful run playing family patriarch Zeek Braverman on NBC’s “Parenthood.” News of the return of “Coach” comes days after Fox announced it would be reviving another ’90s hit show, “The X-Files,” for a six-episode miniseries

Who needs to make new TV shows when you can just take all the old shows everybody loved and make them again! Craig T. Nelson and football puts asses in the seats, so I dont see how this fails. Unless of course they wanna bring back Jerry Van Dyke because he’s gotta be like 90. I’ll be perfectly honest if you told me Jerry Van Dyke was dead already I wouldn’t have flinched. But Hayden Fox paved the way for the likes of Coach Taylor so if he wants another crack at the small screen then he fucking gets one. Period.

I really enjoyed Parenthood #Barstoolconfessions
