Twitter Outraged Thinking The Onion’s Stop-And-Kiss NYPD Spoof Was Real
Gothamist – Yesterday, America’s favorite purveyor of parody tackled stop-and-frisk (not for the first time) with an absolutely hilarious video detailing the raging white hot debate over the NYPD’s stop-and-kiss program. And despite the fact that there is no way anyone could think this was actually a real thing—right? They couldn’t really, right?—some people think this is a real thing. Below, you can get a taste of the ensuing Twitter madness and requisite SMH’ing. There are even longer rants on Facebook if you feel like sorting through that wasteland.
First of all, that video is downright hilarious. Tens. Absolute tens. The people at the Onion are so goddam clever and everything is so well executed. The “Redskins Kike Owner” satire was previously my favorite Onion piece. So well done other news outlets were outraged by it. But Stop and Kiss may take the cake. “Oh cmon man they just kissed me two blocks ago!” “SHUT THE FUCK UP, AND LET ME KISS YOU.” Absolutely hysterical.
And, as usual with The Onion, the only thing funnier than their articles are the people on the internet who think its real. Like cops working the beat are actually running around mouth kissing fucking hobos and thugs and stuff. The stupidity of the human race never seizes to a mace me.
