Ron Burgundy Coming Out With A Memoir This November

NY Times – In his time as a television broadcaster Ron Burgundy has boasted that he discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. And while he may have accomplished neither of those things, he will soon be the author of a memoir. The Crown Archetype imprint of Random House’s Crown Publishing Group said on Tuesday that it had acquired a new autobiography, “Let Me Off at the Top! My Classy Life and Other Musings,” that will tell the story of Burgundy, the oblivious newscaster played by Will Ferrell in the movie “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and a coming sequel, “Anchorman: The Legend Continues.” Though the “Anchorman” films are written by Adam McKay and Mr. Ferrell, “Let Me Off at the Top!” is attributed to Burgundy, who in some accounts of the 1970s was the anchor of San Diego’s award-winning Action 4 News Team. In a news release Crown Archetype said the book would “offer a rare glimpse behind the camera into the real life of a man many consider to be our greatest living news anchor.” Burgundy will “share personal anecdotes about the women in his life, about his dog, Baxter, and his legendary news team,” the release added. “Along the way, he’ll also give sage advice on a variety of topics that matter most to him.” “I don’t know if it’s the greatest autobiography ever written,” Burgundy said in his own statement. “I’m too close to the work.” “Let Me Off at the Top!” will be released in always-classy San Diego and the rest of the United States in print and digital formats on Nov. 19. “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” is scheduled to open on Dec. 20.

All I’ve gotta say is there has never been a greater need for a book on tape than right now. Like sitting down and actually reading a Ron Burgandy book? No thanks. Popping in your headphones and listening to the sweet seductive sounds of a 5 time Emmy Award Winning Channel 4 News anchor? Sign me up. They should have a few chapters devoted to Champ, Brick and Brian Fantana as well. Perhaps an epilogue or an intro written by Wes Mantooth. As long as I can listen to this book, they can do whatever they’d like with it.
