Ellsbury And The Yankees Close To A 7 Year Deal

CBS – Star free agent outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is in serious talks with the Yankees and the sides appear to be close to reaching a seven-year deal. sources said. “It could happen,” said someone familiar with the talks. It is believed the deal would exceeed Carl Crawford’s $142-million, seven-year deal.

If this happens its a monster signing. Monster. I would love Ellsbury on the Mets. I don’t think people realized how good he’s been the past couple years. Should have been an MVP in 2011. Premium position. Bats leadoff. Plenty of prime years ahead of him. Only down side is he’s injury prone but other than that hard not to love this signing. I’d take him at less cost over Cano any day. 7 year deals never really work out but its basically the standard at this point. Take your medicine years 5, 6 and 7 for the first half of production.
