LINDERNHURST, NY — A Long Island dentist is charged with conducting a dental procedure on a patient while under the influence of alcohol. Suffolk County police say 57-year-old Robert Garelick was charged with reckless endangerment. Police responded to his Lindenhurst office on Monday afternoon after receiving a complaint about a dentist who appeared to be intoxicated. Information about Garelick’s lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
Listen there are certain professions where you just can’t be drinking on the job. If you’re a surgeon, you can’t be drunk. If you’re a pilot, you follow the 8 hour bottle-to-throttle rule. Even if you’re just a simple cab driver you can’t be wasted. But lets call a spade a spade, like 90% of the time a dentist can be absolutely shitfaced and not miss a beat. I don’t even think cavities exist anymore. So your average checkup is basically just a glorified tooth brushing. They look around with that mirror. And then they poke the fucking shit out of your gums with that big hook. Whats the difference if you’re stabbing my gums when you’re drunk or not? Not like you do it gently when you’re sober. Sober tooth scraping is the same exact thing as drunk scraping. Bottom line is 9 times out of 10 you just throw Mr. Thirsty in some kid’s mouth and brush their teeth and send them on their way. I could do that blacked out.
