Warrick Dunn Gave DeShaun Watson’s Family A House in 2006
I feel like I’ve blogged about Warrick Dunn before but I can’t find. But regardless, under the radar, Warrick Dunn operates a foundation that gives homes to single mothers. And it just so happens that one of those single mothers was Deann Watson, Deshaun’s mother.
PFT - Watson, the Clemson quarterback who led his team to the national championship on Monday night, said last year that Dunn’s generosity changed his life.
“I felt grown having my own room,” Watson said. “Just having my own bed, not really being squished, not really worrying about someone sneaking up on me, it was a great moment, a special moment.”
Dunn was pleased to learn Watson’s family has done well.
“We just try to help put people in safer environments and give kids an opportunity,” Dunn said. “You never know what impact you will have. You hope it’s a positive impact.”
How cool is that? Warrick Dunn gave Deshaun and his family a new home, and 11 years later he won the National Championship on the same field where Dunn made his money to give his family a home. It’s absolutely awesome and another one of those great stories that make sports wonderful.
