The Redskins Need To Stay The Fuck Away From Scum Of The Earth Greg Hardy

Uhhh, can we fucking not go down this road? Jesus fucking Christ, just stop this circus before it even starts.

Look, I’m a believer in second chances. Junior Galette had that beach incident, it was isolated, he apologized and everyone moved on. NFL players are not role models. I have really begun to heavily separate “cheering for guys on the field” from “caring about what a person does in real life”. Meaning, I’ve come around to realize there are so many terrible humans that play for our favorite teams that we shouldn’t even hold it against our team for signing them. Big Cat touched on this as well yesterday after the Cubs traded for Aroldis Chapman. You can be excited your team has a player who will help them win while still not respecting or liking the guy as a person. For billion dollar sports teams and their billionaire owners, it’s all just a business.

That all being said, I don’t believe in 9th chances. I don’t believe in signing a guy who is so transparently awful as a human, a guy who lacks any sort of moral fiber, character, or most of all, possesses the ability to change. Greg Hardy does not change his stripes, unless the stripes are becoming a shittier and shittier football player, then yes, he does change. Hardy stunk last year for the Cowboys, he was getting in sideline fights, he wasn’t showing up to meetings, and who knows how much more we didn’t hear about.

To go back to the second paragraph, I understand why teams sign bad people. News alert: YOUR team, yes yours, has some bad people. It’s just not what you want on the team you root for. You don’t want to have to root for pond scum. So like Big Cat said, it’s still ok to cheer for your team, but it just sucks that the assholes who hit their girlfriends are under that same umbrella.
