The Caps Are Set To Face The Maple Leafs Starting On Thursday

Well folks, we made it. Endured the long grind of the regular season, and closed it off with another Presidents Trophy for the mantle above the fireplace. That mantle is getting pretty crowded with MVP awards, Vezinas, and Metro division championships, but still has a big gap in it where the Cup should be. The Caps will start their road to 16 wins this Thursday at home vs the Maple Leafs, who squeezed themselves into the 2nd Wild Card spot.

The two teams squared off 3 times in the regular season, with the Caps taking 2 out of 3 from the bad guys in blue. But that’s not to say the Leafs should be overlooked- they have so much talent up front it’s scary. The three rookies- Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner all went over 60 points this season, along with Nazem Kadri who finished with 32 goals and Nate at Night guest JVR went over 60 as well. Needless to say, this team is young, fast, and can score.

The Caps on the other hand are very good at not allowing goals:

Oh god dammit, another trophy? To say Holtby was lights out would be an understatement.

The Leafs are a good squad, but not quite there yet. I think they will give the Caps a harder time than most of the other potential matchups (Ottawa/Boston) but the Leafs give up too many goals and the Caps are too skilled and deep for them. Hoping it only goes 5, but wouldn’t be shocked if it goes 6.

The playoffs are finally about to begin, buckle up buckaroos.
