Source - The United States Department of Agriculture is on track to open the country’s first horse slaughter plant in six years. The last horse processing plant was shuttered in 2007 after Congress approved a bill that forbid the USDA from using any of its funds to inspect horse meat. Since then, horses that were raised for human consumption were shipped off to be slaughtered in Canada or Mexico, where inspection laws aren’t as stringent. In 2011, Congress “quietly” removed a rider in the appropriations bill that forbid any money from going to horse inspections.
I think people are officially losing their minds over the whole horse meat situation. People upset about a horse slaughterhouse opening up. Websites and news stations updating like around the clock trying to let the public know which fast food restaurant or burger company slaughtered a Clydesdale and threw it in their food like it actually matters. First off, as long as they aren’t throwing actual human beings into a meat grinder and packaging them up like it’s The Jungle, I’m not even going to pretend to care. Horse, cattle, chicken, like I give a shit. They’re animals. We eat animals. Who cares. And second if there’s horse meat in chalupas and frozen burgers and other shit like that the only possibly conclusion is that horse meat is fucking delicious. Throw some Frank’s Red Hot on there and I’ll eat a Seattle Slew burger in 5 seconds. Maybe wash it down with dolphin tears while PETA and Greenpeace’s heads explode at the inhumanity of it all. Sounds delicious.
