You know what’s gonna happen as a result of this campaign? Somebody is gonna be riding their bike down the street and they’ll start staring up at this shitty flyer telling them to beware of Dooring and some stupid asshole is gonna open his car door and send the dude flying up into a telephone pole on his bike like he’s Elliot from ET. And when he regains consciousness he’ll wake up on the pavement and this stupid piece of paper saying “Look out for car doors!” is gonna be stuck to his head. That is what’s going to happen guaranteed.
Because signs and campaigns like this are all essentially saying the same thing, “Use Common Sense, Don’t Be A Fucking Idiot”. But when someone gets hurt there has to be flyers and posters plastered all over the place which do nothing but piss people off and make them want to door some cyclist in his rib cage just out of spite. I mean I don’t even think disobeying shit like red lights and Walk Now and stop signs is that big of a deal. If there’s nobody coming, go right ahead. Cross the street, drive on through, whatever. It isn’t that hard to figure out, just use your head. Shoving shit like this in everyone’s face is just going to distract people even more and probably just lead to “Don’t Be Distracted By This Flyer” posters being hung up all over town as a result. God dammit. End of rant.
