Chicago Tribune – Brian Scalabrine has turned down an assistant coaching position with the Chicago Bulls in favor of a NBA color analyst job with Comcast Sports New England, according to a Twitter report from Yahoo Sports. The former Bulls forward told Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) that although he isn’t ready to say he’s retired as a player, he had received no offers. Scalabrine reportedly was in line for an assistant job on Tom Thibodeau’s coaching staff. ”Saying no to Thibs was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make,” Scalabrine told Yahoo Sports.
Absolutely love how Scal refuses to announce retirement and hang ‘em up for good. Letting the whole league know that if they fall on hard times and need a man-tits ginger boy to bolster their bench, he’ll be at the ready. Just rearing to get back in there and dribble off his foot or take it hard in the paint and get repeatedly concussed with blow after blow to the head. The game just wouldn’t be the same without him. Heart of a champion if there ever was one.
