Soldier Field has literally been waiting to get their balls back all Summer. Taylor Swift concerts and Color Run’s have to be tough shit to endure when you’re use to smashmouth Chicago football, but the Bears are finally back. Now since it’s still the preseason i’m not going to be doing matchup comparisons with the Chargers because that is pointless. So keep your eyes on the things I had in my last preview blog along with some of these new points.
Right Tackle: All eyes will be on the fifth rounder out of La. Tech Jordan Mills. We need Mills to show a lot of promise tonight because if not we can all get ready for another year of offensive tackle being our biggest glaring hole on offense. It was crazy that Webb was getting all the reps with the first team in the first place without competition and we are kind of just throwing Mills in the fire tonight but hopefully he adapts. Bushrod, Slauson, Garza, Long/Brown have all looked strong so let’s hope one position doesn’t kill our whole offensive line.
Offense: We get to see a quarter rather than ten plays, and Marshall should be back. I hope Anderson also plays because I think him and Wilson have been the most exciting guys to watch thus far. Look out for third string running back as well because if Allen wants to put the ball on the turf he can take a hike.
Tight End: I really hope to see Martellus Bennett make a play tonight because he was pretty much non-existent against the Panthers and I think he’s going to have a monster year. Also who will grab the final two tight end spots? They didn’t bring Pope in for no reason so I assume he has one. Can Fendi make some plays and grab the last spot?
Of course watch if the rookies Bostic and Greene can build off of their solid debut and if Frey can be the man to replace Hayden. Everyone should also be praying that Melton’s head is healing because our defensive line depth is borderline dog shit. It’s going to be great to see Soldier back and rocking tonight.
