Chicago Tribune - Lance Briggs agrees with fellow Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher: When it comes to booing the home team, nobody does it better than Bears fans. ”Obviously, some people think the way it came off, they might be upset about it,” Briggs said. “I understand where he’s coming from. I’ve been here for a long time, too, and I’ve seen a lot of boos, for a lot of wrong reasons. Nobody, on any team I’ve ever been on, gets booed more at home than here in Chicago.
“That’s also a point to the passion of Chicago fans. Everyone is passionate, but everyone in Chicago doesn’t know how to run a football team, doesn’t know how to play for a professional football team. It’s our job to do that.” Briggs acknowledged the up-and-down nature of Bears fans’ emotions. ”I’ve seen the city after big wins, everyone’s happy,” Briggs said. “I’ve seen it after big losses, and the whole city’s depressed. That’s just the way it goes.”
I guess this is the new big thing now? Guys on the Bears defense lashing out at the fans for booing and guys on offense like B-Marsh and Cutler saying it’s well deserved since they’ve lost 5 out of 6 games and played like shit during the most important part of the year. Seriously I feel like I’m losing my damn mind. How can you possibly get mad at fans for booing? When you go from being 7-1 and set-up for a first-round bye to losing control of your own destiny to even get into the dance a month later, you’re going to get booed and it’s going to be 100% deserved. No fan is so disillusioned that they thing they can run a football team better or play better than anyone in the entire organization. I don’t know what the fuck Briggs is talking about when he says that. That’s where the separation between being a fan and being a professional comes into play. Whether you want to admit it or not fans are the ones who sign your paychecks. It isn’t their signature next to the “X” but it’s the money of people much less wealthy than you that gets funneled into the organization by the hundreds of millions of dollars so you can live a life most people will only ever dream of. So spare me the sob story. If you don’t want public criticism win a few games or find something else to do.
