Chicago Tribune - Jay Cutler has “horrendous” fundamentals and the new Bears coach will have to “tell him you gotta conform to what I want,” former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason said Friday on WSCR-AM 670. “Cutler has the tools, but he hasn’t put it all together yet,” Esiason said on “The McNeil and Spiegel Show.” “Jay Cutler just wants to feed Brandon Marshall the whole time and he kinda disengages everybody else. I don’t know which way Jay’s going to go whoever his new coach is going to be. But I can tell you right now that the first thing they need to fix is they have to fix that position from a fundamental standpoint and then they have to fix that position to make sure that truly he is what Brian Urlacher says he is – and that’s the leader of this football team.
Good idea bro! Lets take a quick look at the list of options outside of B-Marsh. There’s Alshon Jeffrey the rookie who spent half the year injured and came up HUGE in that must win game against the Packers with no catches and a handful of pass interference penalties. Kellen Davis who couldn’t catch a cold if you injected it into his veins with a rusty AIDS needle. Devin Hester’s hoodie and irrelevance could maybe get more attention. Hey all viable options. Truly a wonder he kept zoning in on the guy who caught everything and was second to Megatron in wide-out production this year. Seriously Jay it’s called a decoy, figure it out. Fake to Marshall and throw a rocket over the middle that impales Kellen Davis’ face and gets stuck in there since I’m pretty sure that’s the only way he’ll ever hold onto the rock. Easiest play in the book.
PS – Just as good as the “Stop throwing to Marshall” rant was Boomer saying to stop bringing the ball so low. Maybe it’d be a little easier to stand-up like Johnny Unitas with the ball around his chin if he wasn’t running for his life and a half second away from blowing his spine out through his nose every other play.
