(Source) Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen reportedly hates the sounds of the ocean.Which might explain why Allen, who owns the Portland Trail Blazers among other holdings, sold his mansion in Malibu to CBS President and CEO Les Moonves for $28 million. The New York Post reported Allen bought the mansion four years ago for $25 million, but sold it to Moonves because he “hated the sound of the ocean,” which reportedly kept him awake at night.

Allen didn’t spend much time at the Malibu mansion, which was located on “Billionaires Beach,” and neighbors included Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and other billionaires. As the Blazers prepare for the 2013-14 NBA playoffs, the Portland Business Journal will feature several stories about the team online this week and, in pieces by noted NBA writer Ben Golliver, in this week’s print edition, which hits the streets Friday.

There is flaunting your wealth, flashy cars, rolex watches, lavish living etc, then there is FLAUNTING your wealth. And what does the latter exactly entail you may ask? It entails being so rich that you can first buy a 28 million dollar mansion directly on the pacific ocean and then sell that same mansion because the sound of the ocean bothers you. Because you “hate” hearing the sea. Just think about that statement for a second. People work their whole life to live on a body of water. Oceans, lakes, ponds. That’s when you’ve made it, when you have waterfront property.  Fuck, forget even living on it. People buy artificial noise makers to replicate the sound of the Ocean. It’s the most peaceful sound in the world. Countries have fought over access to water. And Paul Allen is basically like nah, not for me, the ocean sucks. Probably thinks the sunsets on the Pacific were overrated and the water was too warm too. Just an outrageous show of wealth. To hate the ocean. I’ve never heard of such a move. Can’t help but respect it.

Hey Paul Allen what are your thoughts on the Ocean?
