Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator, Brian VanGorder, Officially On Hot Seat Per Brian Kelly's Twitter

This clip came after Michigan State picked up a 3rd and long on yet another mental breakdown by the secondary which essentially iced the game for good. Now, I can’t really tell if Brian Kelly is saying “what the fuck are you doing?” or “what the fuck is he doing?”, but the overall sentiment is what the fuck. What the fuck, why can’t your guys tackle for shit? What the fuck, why can’t your guys cover for shit? What the fuck, why can’t your guys get off blocks? What the fuck, why can’t your guys stick to basic assignments? What the fuck. The offense is good, and Kizer is one of the best quarterbacks in the country, but Notre Dame is staring 8-4 or 7-5 right in the face because the secondary is so terrible and the pass rush is non-existent.

Fans have been calling for Brian Van Gorder’s head for awhile now, and maybe Brian Kelly is listening if you believe twitter likes.

Now, I don’t want to read too much into a tweet, but at the same time I think Van Gorder and his stupid goatee are as good as gone. The defense has regressed and it’s keeping the Irish from being a top team.

It’s a very young team, especially in the secondary, but there’s no excuse for a team with this much talent and resources to have one of the worst statistical defenses in the country.
