Kids At Texas High School In Trouble For Holding Up "White Power" Sign During Basketball Game

(Source) Witnesses said the incident happened late in the game. Both student sections were hyped up as the scoring lead switched several times.

The student who spoke with us said the signs were held up for 30 seconds. Students described teachers rushing to take the signs down. They also said the sign that read “WHITE” obviously referred to the team’s colors. But many did not believe the “POWER” sign fit in to any school cheers.

Hey guys, I’m not trying to tell you how the game of basketball works but you do realize holding a White Power sign at a basketball game might be the dumbest thing of all time right? Pretty sure the whole White Power thing is based on the idea that white people are the superior race in every capacity. Well, I’ve got some news that may be shocking, but we aren’t, and we definitely aren’t in basketball. Like if you’re so hyped up and want to win so badly you should be the opposite of racist. This ain’t Hoosiers guys, we aren’t living in Disney World. Give me Black Power over White Power everyday of the week and twice on Sunday when we’re talking about jumping high and dunking basketballs. If you’re going to use racism to win, at least be smart about it.
