Duncan Keith Being Accused Of Sexism Because He Told An Annoying Female Reporter Off

(Source) Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith has taken heat for his post-game comments directed at a female sportscaster on Monday night.

To many, he appeared to be taking a sexist swipe at her credibility.

Team 1040’s Karen Thomson had confronted Keith about slashing Daniel Sedin on the play when he scored the third goal of the game in a 3-1 Vancouver victory.

Keith dismissed her question about why he wasn’t called for a penalty.

Keith: “We should get you as ref, maybe, hey?”

Thomson: “Yeah, maybe. can’t skate, though.”

Keith: “First female referee. . . can’t play probably, either, right? But you’re thinking the game like you know it? Okay, see ya.”

One sports blogger called his response “completely uncalled-for sexist rubbish.”

Keith was trending on Twitter on Tuesday and social media was bursting with commentary.

This is sexism? Really? Because all I hear is a frustrated player being annoyed by a “know it all” member of the media. He wasn’t called for a penalty, plain and simple. So why is he being bothered after the fact? It was a 3-1 loss. It wasn’t like that play was some crucial momentum shift. That’s just terrible reporting on her part. She is purposefully trying to start shit. Ref called it how he saw it, end of story. That’s not sexism, that’s just telling an annoying person to fuck off. Can’t skate, can’t play, can’t report, See ya!
