Whitey Bulger Was At The B's Game 7 Cup Win In Vancouver? What The Hell?

(BostonLib) — Whitey Bulger got to experience something very few Boston fans have: watching the Bruins win the Stanley Cup in person. According to an FBI agent who works out of the Boston office, the FBI tailed Whitey for several weeks before making an arrest.  Obviously, the FBI would not swoop in and arrest him the second they found him.  They wanted to find out who he was talking to, and who else might be providing him assistance. While they were tailing him, he boldly drove 20+ hours from Santa Monica and crossed the Canadian border to Vancouver. There he somehow scored a game 7 ticket. Not that money or IDs were a problem.  Police found “$800,000 in cash, 30 firearms and fake IDs.”  Exactly one week later, they arrested him.

Talk about being a die hard fan! This playoff run I was scared to leave my apartment for a Bruins game and that was because I didn’t want to miss a blog and get yelled at by Pres. Meanwhile Whitey Bulger was throwing FBI Most Wanted lists out the window while he crosses the border just to get a glimpse at the B’s taking home the Cup. Dedication to the nth degree. Actually putting his freedom on the line for his team. Whitey may have done tons of horrible shit but you really have to respect that move.

PS – how confused were these FBI guys tailing him? I can picture them on their radios saying, “He’s making a run for it! He’s making a run for it to Cana — oh wait, never mind. He just scalped 2 tickets to game 7 tonight. Good seats too, ice level.”
