Durham, NH – September 5th, 2012 – Alex Freid, recently known for his heavy involvement with coordinating Trash 2 Treasure (http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20120830-NEWS-120839994), Monday announced a call to action against the Twitter account @UNH_D for producing content that he finds objectionable, offensive and dangerous to the UNH campus. UNH_D posted it’s first tweet on August 31st and has already accumulated 647 followers. The account produces sexual humor which Alex believes goes to far. Through the call to action, Alex has tried suspending the Twitter account, alerted the UNH Police, the Bias Response Team, and SHARPP.
Yesterday, Alex posted his initial call to action:
Dear UNH Friends and Alumni,
CALL TO ACTION: A new Twitter account popped up this weekend that we should all be extremely concerned about. The account is disgusting and offensive and espouses a mentality that is exactly opposite to what a responsible young adult on a college campus should be thinking and advocating with regards to personal sexual relationships. The account essentially puts forward the idea that every girl on campus is desperate to have sex, all the time. “If she’s wearing leopard”, or “If she has a belly button ring”, or “If she likes your photo on facebook”, then “she wants the d”. (D being a reference to “dick”). As we all know, how a female dresses or how she chooses to conduct herself is in no way an invitation to have sex with her and shouldn’t be viewed as such. I am concerned that this account is essentially advocating rape, and if that line can’t be directly drawn, it is at the very least advocating for males to be extremely aggressive and overbearing in their pursuit of sexual relationships and that is in no way acceptable.
There are a number of disturbing tweets, but probably the worst was posted at 9pm on Saturday Sept. 1st: “If she’s underage, …. She wants the D”. This is advocating statutory rape, plain and simple.
If this offends you as much as it offends me, please send your thoughts or comments to Kelsey firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be submitting them through the proper bias response channels at UNH. Everyone on campus should feel safe, and predatory behavior like this is unacceptable.
Funmi Oyekunle i sent out an email to Paul Dean, who is the Chief of UNH Police. He let me know that an officer has been assigned to open an investigation and also alerted the Bias Response Team and SHARPP
This Alex Fried cat sounds like a regular party animal huh? Just spending his college years trying to ban twitter accounts because he doesn’t like what they say. Who cares about Freedom of Speech or any of that bullshit? Seriously it’s stories like these that remind me why Barstool needs to exist. Why I can’t change the name of the Blackout Tour. Why we need to fight the good fight. Because people like Alex Fried exist in real life. People who want to protest and ban anything that they don’t like. People who want to stick their noses in other people’s business. If it was up to Alex nobody would be allowed to do anything he didn’t deem morally acceptable. A guy who has probably never gotten his dick sucked in his life and wants to take out his frustration on everybody else. People who want to pussify the entire fucking country. Hey newsflash asshole. Girls love sex just as much as guys. They don’t need to be protected from having fun. They want to hook up. They want to suck that dick just as much as guys want to get that dick sucked. Coeds bang in college. This isn’t a new phenomenon. It’s been going on forever. So loosen up. Live a little bit. Jerk off. Life is too fucking short to spend it trying to prevent people from having fun. Let the police worry about real shit that matters not that you got your panties in a bunch about a harmless twitter account.
PS – I want to black out UNH so bad I can taste it. Sucks that this kid is definitely the president of SCOPE. Who cares what 99% of the student body at UNH would kill for a Blackout show? Let’s let a handful of squids dictate what we do instead.
