Steven A. Smith Says David Stern Ordered The League To Cheat Last Night

I know people think I’m crazy blaming last night’s loss on the refs, but I’m not. Steven A Smith has is right here. The Celtics are a team that thrives on emotion and playing with their heart on the sleeve. David Stern didn’t allow the Celtics to do that last night. He made them play with their hands in their pockets. Like they were at a library or something. Can’t talk. Can’t get excited. No emotion. You take that away and you take away what makes this C’s team so great. It’s a joke. Yes I know the NBA wants Lebron to win a title, but you got to make him earn it. None of this cheating his way to a championship. Let the players play. That’s all I ask.

Did anybody hear the Tim Donaghy interview on WEEI this morning? Just a proven fact that the NBA wants certain teams to make it to the finals or even the conference finals for that matter. Refs will be given game tape by league officials to watch out for certain things and more often than not it's by the team the league does not want to win. He said after seeing some of those calls there was no doubt in his mind that it had come down from the league office. How fucked up is the NBA?

tough not to bitch but this is nothing new...how crooked the refs are and how blindly they are protected by the league. ended up being irrelevant last night but shows that any small chance the celts had in this series will be squashed though portnoy, not sure why you are so upset about this...havent you just started watch the celts like 3 weeks ago?

Lol, if the league is on Miami's side, why did they suspend Udonis Haslem, and not Tyler Hansbourgh, when the Heat were going back to Indiana. Celtics have to go 7 games to beat Philly. Philly is a Miami's JV team matched up. Besides the decision, that gay ass "pep rally" they had, and that Lebron has his steak cut up for him, I'm not sure why everyone hates him. Hansbourough fouled Wade hard got ball and some face after. Haslem literally punched him in the face with 2 hands. If that were reversed and Hansborough did that he gets 5 games minimum. If you know anything about sports then it is quite obvious that the NBA would like to see the Heat in the finals. And let’s be honest they are a younger more talented team they really don't need the NBA's help. But they will get it. The Celtics didn't lost because of the refs - they got their dick kicked in plain and simple. That said, those techs were absolute horseshit. Doc gets a tech for saying "cmon Eddie." Ray gets a tech for saying "cmon!" and walking away from the ref. All this after being called for a foul that, if anything, was a foul on Wade. Joel Anthony did the exact same thing toward the end of the game, except he walked toward the ref and no tech was called. The delay of game tech when KG tipped the ball after the basket? Really? Sure, technically you're not supposed to hit the ball after a basket, but that is rarely enforced. If it was there would be a tech after about 65% of baskets. It's not like he picked up the ball and threw it. They need to let the game happen. There was something like 13 total fouls in the first quarter alone last night. Makes for a terrible product

As a Boston sports fan, I will never be sorry that we have always had great teams throughout the course of sports history (Pats glory came a little later). Those Ts last night were bullshit. The NFL has not been around that long and if you read what I wrote, I acknowledged that about the Patriots. Boston sports team in some way shape or form, are legendary. You cannot argue with that. Furthermore, I am not a New York hater either, because Yankees fans do have a right to be proud of having the most championships ever. New York is also a bigger city, and I have never once bashed them, I just enjoy the rivalry. Personal fouls are also sometimes intentional, strategic fouls.
