BOSTON (CBS) — Scott Foster will lead the officiating crew for Friday’s Game 3 between the Celtics and Heat in the Eastern Conference finals. Foster is the official who received 134 phone calls from disgraced referee Tim Donaghy between October 2006 and April 2007, as originally reported by FOX News. That was the same period during which Donaghy admitted to betting on NBA games. The report said that Donaghy called Foster more than any other ref and that he didn’t call any other official more than 13 times. The records also showed Donaghy making several calls to Foster on the days of games, generally for no more than two minutes. The report also said that when Donaghy called Foster, he mostly used the phone that he dedicated to gambling-related phone calls, and the phone calls stopped abruptly when Donaghy said he stopped gambling.
Well I have good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad. David Stern has assigned Tim Donoghy’s protégé Scott Foster AKA – “The Fixer” to officiate tonight’s game. That means it’s obviously rigged, but here is the good news. I’d say there is a 95% chance Stern has decided that we win tonight. There is just no point for him to cheat 3 straight games for Miami is there? That wouldn’t make any sense. He wants this thing to go a couple more games. That’s in the best interest of everybody. So it looks like we can skip to Sunday with the series at David Stern 2 – David Stern 1
