NYDailyNews – The Who rocker Pete Townshend has apologized to a 7-year-old girl he told to “f— off” during a concert in Canada last month. The surly guitarist trashed the little girl and her dad in front of thousands of fans at a show in Hamilton, Ontario on Feb. 19 because she was on his shoulders holding a sign that said, “Smash Your Guitar, Pete!” Canadian media reported. Video posted on the Toronto Sun’s website showed Townshend waving at the pair and snarling, “Don’t wave that sign.” “And don’t bring your children,” Townshend said into the mic. “I want to tell you two words, but I can’t because you have a child on you.” He then mouthed the ugly put-down. Eric Costello, 50, said he didn’t know how to explain the insult to his daughter, Janey, who had begged him to see the legendary British band at Copps Coliseum. “I expect a 70-something-year-old man to respect the fact there’s a seven-year-old girl standing in front of him,” Costello told The Sun.
This sums up little kids perfectly. They think they can walk around telling adults what to do and there won’t be any consequences. This girl is just gonna stroll into a concert and tell the guy on stage to smash his guitar. That’s what she wants. Hey Pete, break that really expensive instrument for my enjoyment please! I’m a child and deserve to have all my wishes fulfilled! So all Pete does is give her the logical “fuck off” answer and move on with the show. No big deal right? Wrong. Father makes a huge stink because his little girl is soooo special that even rockstars aren’t allowed to swear at her. Bring your kid to a rock and roll concert and try to censor the whole thing. That makes sense.
It’s parents these days, I’m telling you. They think their kids can do no wrong. If a little girl came up and told me to smash my computer then I’d tell her to fuck off too. Stop demanding that people break expensive things and there won’t be any problems.
PS – Pete is really good at getting into trouble involving little kids.
