I think this video sums up what happened perfectly. I mean I love how KO Barstool was handing out pamphlets outside HOB saying the purpose of their protest was to promote an open dialogue about the topic. By dialogue I guess they mean anybody on their side can fucking scream in your face and anybody who disagrees can’t talk. God forbid they let the guy they hate state his case. I mean how cowardly was that? I walked into the Lion’s den and they still wouldn’t let me speak. Protesting 101.
And as I said in the video 85% of these people who were their yesterday were not Northeastern students but rather Occupy Boston people. The same Occupy Boston movement that can’t seem to agree to ban Level 3 Sex Offenders from their camp. That’s right. KO Barstool partnered with a group that actually lets rapists live in their camps to protest a group who has made 2 clearly satirical rape jokes in 7 years. The same type jokes that are made by every comedian on the planet forever. Talk about picking the wrong battles.
Bottomline is the facts speak for themselves. We’ve thrown parties for 7 years. We never had one sexually related incident. We didn’t have one arrest this weekend. Not one. Meanwhile the occupy movement has been around for one summer and had a shit ton of rapes and then tell the victims not to report it to the cops. That’s who protested us yesterday. That’s who KO Barstool was holding hands with. That’s who is telling us we need to clean up our act. A group that can’t even agree to ban rapists from their own movement. To quote Don King only in America….
PS – How about Sales Guy in the trenches battling with the wackballs for photo ops. That’s what scouts call “intangibles”. He may not be able to sell shit, but he’ll go to war for you and that’s all you can really ask for.
Some Fun Reading Facts
Universal Hub - Some 20 Occupy Boston activists walked out of a general assembly tonight after a group of participants managed to table a proposal aimed at protecting people from level-3 sex offenders at Occupy Boston events. Under the proposal, any level-3 offender – the most dangerous rating under state sex-offender laws – who is found out would be banned from Occupy Boston events for at least a week and then his or her status would be brought before a general assembly – Occupy Boston’s decision-making body. But four people, one a woman other activists had never seen before and another Paul Shannon, director of Reform Sex Offender Laws, which wants to eliminate sex-offender registries, raised objections and the matter was tabled. Robin, who has been involved with Occupy Boston since its inception, rose and led a walk out over the perception the movement was placing the interests of rapists above participants who have been raped and their families and friends.
The Feminist Wire - The Occupy movement has a growing challenge that needs immediate attention: in-house rape. As of today, there are at least 4 reported rapes in Baltimore, Cleveland, Glasgow and Dallas, the latter of which includes a14-year-old runaway girl and a convicted sex offender. I imagine there are several others, most of which have likely gone unreported—for various reasons. There is inside pressure not to report rape outside of the camps for fear of bad publicity (does this sound familiar?).
Baltimore Sun – Efforts by the Occupy Baltimore protest group to evolve into a self-contained, self-governing community have erupted into controversy with the distribution of a pamphlet that victim advocates and health workers fear discourages victims of sexual assaults from contacting police.
