ST. LOUIS • John Cunningham of Jennings used a shotgun to settle a fight with his uncle over pork steaks early Monday in the 5600 block of Hiller Place, St. Louis police say. The men were at a home on Hiller Place when they argued over whether the cuts of meat they were planning to cook were pork steaks or pork chops, police say. Cunningham said they were pork steaks, police said. Lowe disagreed. After the argument became physical about 1 a.m. Monday, the two had to be separated by someone else in the home, police say. Cunningham went to another part of the home, grabbed a shotgun and shot Lowe, police said. Lowe died later at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Cunningham, who was correct about the meat, was taken into custody.
I must be the biggest idiot on the planet because I honestly don’t even know what Pork Steaks are? Like this could have been me arguing with Ron Washington here. This could have been me with my head in a basket. “No such thing as Pork steaks, blah, blah, blah.” Boom you’re dead. Anyway after a little research it appears a pork steak is just a pork chop without the bone? Is that the only difference? More importantly this story begs the question of what percentage of the blame does John Cunningham get here? Yes he murdered his uncle. But he was also right about the Pork Steak debate. That has to count for something right? So how many years does that take off the prison sentence? A decade? If I was his lawyer that would be my entire argument. Yes it’s wrong to murder somebody, but a Pork Steak is a Pork steak. If you don’t stand for something pretty soon you’ll fall for anything.
