ORMOND BEACH, Fla. —Ormond Beach police arrested a man who said he was breaking into homes to find a gun to kill himself. On Sunday, police responded to a home at 634 Tomoka Avenue regarding a suspicious incident. Ellis Galbreath, 82, told police a man came into his home, went into the refrigerator and took a beer and a soda. Galbreath said the man confronted him and asked, ‘where was the gun?’ and then punched him in the face. Galbreath grabbed a wrench and the intruder took off. A few minutes later, Galbreath pointed out Matthew Fanok, 28, to police. Fanok was standing in front of a neighbor’s home at 636 Tomoka Ave. The people who lived in that home came out and said Fanok had just burglarized their home. Fanok was questioned and told police that he recently left Halifax Hospital and was looking for a gun so he could commit suicide. Fanok was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief, home invasion robbery and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
Here’s my beef with this guy’s plan. Why don’t you just break into a gun store to find a gun to kill yourself with instead of randomly breaking into houses and beating up the elderly? Like do you really wanna kill yourself or no? Are you just rummaging through fridges and using the “I’m looking for the weapon of my demise” excuse as a cover up? Because dude, I know where you’ll be able to find a gun to end your life with every time. At the fucking store that sells them. Alarms? Cameras? Sure. But you’re gonna murder yourself anyway right? So that shit doesn’t matter. It’s just when you’re going around punching 82 year olds and stealing beverages instead of actually killing yourself, it just makes me think that you’re not as invested in this suicide attempt as you should be. Gotta start using your head before you blow it off.
