Bostonmagazine - For a stretch in the middle of the last decade, WEEI was Boston’s most-listened-to station among all adults. Nothing, it seemed, could dent the dominance of WEEI. There was no place else for listeners to go. For years, WEEI didn’t change. It didn’t think it had to. “They didn’t have a single person under 40 that could have been someone my friends and I would have hung out with,” says ESPN’s Bill Simmons, the Boston-bred columnist and media mogul. “WEEI stopped trying to get better. They just pointed to their ratings and said, ‘We’re doing fine.’” Simmons has a history with the station that perhaps colors his opinion — he’s been at odds with Ordway since 2009, when “The Big O” called him a “fraud” on the air. But even before then, WEEI refused to embrace Simmons, probably America’s most popular sports writer, especially with the younger demos. It only underscored the station’s stodginess.
I got to admit I take a special type of pleasure whenever I see WEEI get raked over the coals. And make no mistake about it. This article rakes them over the coals. To the point it is pretty obvious that Adam Siegal has some sort of personal vendetta against Dennis and Callahan. Like one of them must have banged his wife or something. But if you want to point the finger at anybody at WEEI for their demise it starts and ends with that midget Jason Wolfe. He has just sat on his hands and has done nothing as his station has grown old and outdated. He’s let Glenn Ordway bully him into make dumb ass decisions. He’s just sat helplessly by as the Sports Hub has used his face as a punching bag. Listen I don’t care if you like me or hate me. Barstool Sports is the only thing that can save WEEI. No other city has such an easy and quick fix sitting at it’s doorstep. But this idiot is either too proud or too dumb to realize it. Everyday that goes by his audience gets older and the gap between 98.5 and WEEI grows and yet he still has does nothing. It’s actual comical to watch. And yes to answer your question if Wolfe did one of the following 3 things I would forgive him and go back on his station.
1. Let me paddleboad him like in Dazed and Confused
2. Let me midget toss him
3. Fire Ordway
