Youtube – Derrick Salberg’s leaping catch over the left field bullpen fence with a runner on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning robbed Everett as the Red Devils held on for a 4-2 victory in the first round of the NWAACC Baseball Championships.

Just in case you missed it this catch has the Internet buzzing this weekend. People saying it’s the best catch ever. Bottom of the ninth two outs to end the game and guy supermans it over the fence to take away a HR. Unreal catch no doubt. I still think if you land over the fence with the ball it should be a HR, but I guess that’s semantics.

  an amazing catch butttttt definitely not the greatest catch ever. fence is 6 inches high so sayin that he "cleared it" is really not saying much at all. he basically reached back and caught a ball and landed on his back. looked cool as fuck (even tho it was a homerun). Did they just call it out cuz it was a good catch? i dont get it. but Gary mathews JR still has the best catch in history in my eyes.

  acardy, you sir are a dumbass for several reasons. 1. just reached back? The timing to jump at the exact time to be fully extended and make that play is unreal. 2. you must have terrible eyes to say gary matthews jr has the best catch of all time. if you take into consideration difficulty, probability, and sheer amazing then it's obviously jim edmonds's catch against KC when he was with the Angels. To be running straight back to make a catch without diving is one thing (and quite possibly the most difficult fly ball to catch, and if you ever played baseball "kid" then you'd know this)...but to do this, lose sight of the ball, regain sight again, and dive backwards to make the catch is the greatest catch. Hell make that 2 of Edmonds's catches were better than Matthews Jr., the one in center at Houston up the hill and diving backwards was equally as good. If you actually DID play baseball, then again you'd know all this.
