Swampscott — Swampscott High School’s new Principal Edward Rozmiarek is eager for the new school year to begin. But Rozmiarek has decided he won’t allow what had become first-day traditions of Swampscott High seniors. For more than a decade, seniors have observed several rituals on the first day of school. (beeping cars, senior tunnel, running around the halls before homeroom) Former SHS Principal Layne Millington said “It’s usually just jubilation; it’s not a negative thing,” Millington said last year prior to the first day. But the Class of 2014 won’t be participating in these traditions, as Rozmiarek is planning to put an end to the first-day festivities. When asked why he decided to make the change, despite never having actually witnessed the events, Rozmiarek said he had researched it by reading previous newspaper articles and by talking to faculty and parents. “I’ve never witnessed it, but I’ve heard about it,” he said. “I know that there are people who have come to look forward to it, but from what I’ve heard, it doesn’t sound like a good thing.” “Again, I just don’t see all that yelling and screaming as a positive thing,” he said.
How about SHS Principal Edward Rozmiarek going in heavy here? Dude openly admits he has never seen any of these first day traditions but he bans them anyway. Why? Because he read an article about it and doesn’t see yelling and screaming as a positive thing. That’s a direct quote from this moron. That’s what this guy said. Who cares if every single student said it’s all in good fun. Who cares if the former principle said it’s not a negative thing. Nope. Doesn’t matter. This new guy who has never seen it, never had a complaint about it, is banning it before he’s ever even witnessed it. So administrator 101 that it hurts. Still the only place in America where people can make decision with no logic, no rationale and get away with it just because they said so. Do you Rozmiarek…do you.
PS – When I graduated SHS we had none of these traditions by the way. Our tradition was whooping ass in sports.
