Rory MacDonald Is Fighting Tonight, So Extreme Violence Is On It’s Way
Tonight on Spike, Rory “Red King” MacDonald will make his long awaited Bellator debut after signing a multi-fight deal as the biggest free agent in the sport last August. MacDonald left the UFC after two consecutive losses to Robbie Lawler and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, but is still undoubtably one of the best welterweights in the world. He was very famous for being one of the first legitimate threats to be raised on all styles of MMA, as opposed to coming up on wrestling, or boxing, or jiu jitsu, and catching up on everything else later. MacDonald has recently gained more and more notoriety for being one of the most violent fighters in the sport, and by that, I don’t mean he goes out there, throws haymakers, and just gets into slugfests hoping for the best. He’s calm, cool, collected, and most importantly, calculated. Also throw emphasis on calm, though, because he’s so calm he looks like a serial killer.
His opponent is Paul Daley, who called him out by name after brutally knocking out Brennan Ward with a flying knee.
He’s no slouch, and in Bellator, his only loss comes at the hands of Douglas Lima, the current welterweight champion. The winner of this fight will get a shot at Lima’s title, as well.
I have MacDonald winning this fight by decision, but it’s gonna be a war and I can see Daley knocking him out with something flashy. I’m also just a tad biased to MacDonald, who competed in my personal favorite fight of all time against Robbie Lawler at UFC 189. The staredown between those two at the end of Round 4 is the most bad ass moment I’ve ever seen.
Also on the card is Liam McGeary vs Linton Vassell and Chieck Kongo vs Augusto Sakai which could both be bangers. It’s a free night of fights, so if you’re like me and don’t have plans on a Friday night, sit back, crack a cold one (Pepsi), and enjoy the violence.
