ABC - A Providence couple honeymooning in Africa is getting ready to fly into one of the cities where health officials are racing to contain the deadly Ebola virus. Jeremy Ogunba and new wife Charity have been staying in Abuja for the last week, and on Sunday will board a plane to their next destination, Lagos, which has been affected. On Friday The World Health Organization has declared it an international health emergency. The couple says they were checked for symptoms as soon as they stepped off the plane. US officials say the current crisis in West Africa is on pace to sicken more people than all past outbreaks combined. Nearly 1,000 have died, and more than 1,700 are sick. The couple feels confident the government in Lagos has the situation under control. The newly weds aren’t going to let the outbreak stop them from enjoying their time together. Jeremy’s dad is from Lagos the couple will be staying with family. They will be there for 12 days.

The couple feels confident that the government in Lagos has the situation under control? Really? Is that a real statement? Because even though I don’t know the first thing about Lagos I know this much. The Lagos Government most certainly does NOT have this situation under control. In fact it’s quite the opposite. It’s spiraling out of control. People are catching Ebola walking down the street and shit. But hey if these two lovebirds want to still go on their honeymoon there knock yourself out. All I’m saying is that if and when they catch Ebola I don’t want em allowed back in the States. Let the Lagos government deal with their Ebola asses. To me this is the same exact thing as when idiotic swimmers try to swim across continents and need the Coast Guard to bail em out. You don’t want to catch Ebola? Don’t got to Ebola capital of the world.

PS – Staying with your family on your honeymoon is almost worse than catching Ebola.
