Jim Joyce Rigs The World Series

First things first.  What was Salty doing?  The first thing you learn in Little League is not to throw the ball around when you got no chance of getting an out and that’s exactly what he did here.  Just a bonehead play to throw to third there.  Day 1 stuff really.

BUT that still doesn’t excuse what Jim Joyce just did which was essentially rig the World Series. No other way to explain it.  Allen Craig didn’t trip on Will Middlebrooks.  He tripped over his own feet.  He never even made contact with him.   And even if he did Middlebrooks was not in the baseline.  He was laying inside the bag.  You can’t call him for interference on that.  Not in that situation.  Not in the World Series.  Not with the game on the line.    Just a HORRIBLE call.   You got to let the players win and lose this game on their own.   The problem with umpires nowadays is they want their names in the headlines.  They want to be famous.  Jim Joyce wants everybody talking about him.   There isn’t one person in America who would have said a peep if he didn’t call interference there.  Not one.   But nope.  Jim Joyce is probably cracking a beer right now in the clubhouse laughing with the rest of the umps about how they just highjacked the World Series.  Seriously this is right up there with Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Black Sox Scandal.   It’s a black eye that will hang over baseball for the next decade at least.  It’s disgusting, but I can’t say it’s surprising.  This is what officials do nowadays.  If you can’t beat Boston fair and square apparently you  just cheat.  Oh well.  It looks like we got to beat the Cardinals and the umps this series.  That’s fine.  Bring it on.

PS – The homeplate ump had the worst strike zone all game long I’ve ever seen.
