Metro- Bobbie Lane, from Kent, was left feeling dizzy after joining her friends on a Superbowl ride at Reading Festival, which spins riders around while lifting them off the ground. Her friends quickly recovered, but Ms Lane’s sense of dizziness did not wear off and continued to get worse over the next few days. Ms Lane, 26, said: ‘After I returned home, the dizziness stayed with me and it felt like I was permanently at sea. ‘It slowly got worse, and eventually I went to the doctor, who immediately sent me to a neuroscientist consultant.’ She was diagnosed with Migraine Variant Balance Disorder – a rare condition that affects her balance and memory leaving her permanently feeling like she’s had too much to drink. Ms Lane was forced to leave her dream job as a charity worker as she must avoid all stress, and has to follow a very strict diet. She said: ‘There’s a list of foods I can’t eat any more as long as my arm.’ These include alcohol, chocolate, dairy products and citrus fruit.

Classic case of too much of a good thing.  The feeling of getting off a ride like the spinning tea cups or the silly silo is that you don’t feel tethered to the Earth.  It’s kind of cool, kind of weird but you’re eventually happy when it goes away.  Dizziness can be great in small doses.  But to have that feeling for a full year?  And it keeps getting worse and worse?  No thanks.  That might be a fate worse than death.  The girl says its a lot like feeling drunk all the time.  Sounds great but in reality it’d be fun for about 6 hours until you have some real life responsibility you need to take care of.  Trust me, I wish I could feel drunk all the time.  Deep down inside that’s all I want to do but then life happens.  The only thing I can think to compare to this girl feeling dizzy non-stop is those poor bastards who have hiccups for years and years and years.  Which would be worse, having non-stop hiccups or having a feeling of non-stop dizziness?  I’d have to go with dizziness being worse.  At least with hiccups you feel normal for the most part.  With dizziness you’d just want to puke every second.  You wouldn’t be able to concentrate on anything but being dizzy..  Then again with hiccups you’d always be anticipating the next one.  That’s the worst part about hiccups.  The anticipation.  The waiting.  And then it happens. Now I’m not sure which would be worse.
