High School Students In Maine Are Taking Pledges To Not Say "The R Word"

(BDN) — Brewer students make a pledge during their lunch hour to stop using the “R-word.” Brewer High School is sponsoring a campaign to replace the term mental retardation with intellectual disability.

I hate this bullshit. Absolutely fucking hate it. This whole “can’t say a word because it hurts another persons feeling” was the first step in the long, slippery slope of Pussification stories. It’s been going on forever and I’m just fucking fed up with it. I’m not saying I’m gonna head down to Tom Brady’s “Best Buddies” challenge and yell “Run you retards! RUNNNN!!!!” But, if you want to call your buddy retarded when he does something retarded then that’s A-ok. If you want to call me gay when I act gay, totally cool. They’re words used to describe things. It’s not on regular people to stop using them, it’s on the offended to stop being such pussies.
