Drunk Driver Goes Flying Off Of 93 North Upper Deck And Lands On The Expressway Below

A 33-year-old East Boston man, allegedly under the influence, drove a pickup truck off Interstate 93 North’s upper deck, at the Route 1 off-ramp, early Sunday morning, landing on the expressway’s lower deck, according to State Police. After the dramatic crash at about 6:25 a.m., Vannak Sao was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, police said. Boston and Somerville firefighters extricated Sao from the truck. He was then taken to Massachusetts General Hospital after being stabilized.

First of all, awesome video and vine. It’s almost like a skit of Duke brothers that are terrible at driving. Asian, maybe even. I could watch that thing nose dive onto the underpass for the rest of the day. But what I really need to know is did Vannah Sao go to bed before the alleged “DUI”? That’s what the whole case hinges on. If he’d been drinking straight through the night then lock him up. But if he went to sleep at like 2 and caught a few z’s? Well that’s not a DUI. If you drive drunk you’re an asshole, if you go to sleep and wake up with a buzz you’re just unlucky. Still got shit to do, ya know? Daylight doesn’t wait just because you went out last night. All you can do in that situation is take a shower, grab a coffee, text your friends “Dude I think I’m still drunk” then hope you don’t use and exit ramp as a daredevil jump.
