Celtics Beat The Pistons And What Else Is There To Say, Isaiah Thomas Is The Fucking Man

After three extremely long days, we’re back! Hope you all had a great break. As I write this I am still high from Isaiah’s 34 so sit tight and enjoy the ride. Let’s take a look at what we learned last night while taking another huge step towards postseason basketball…

Lots to get to in this one as the Pistons came into the night winners of 7 in their last 10, including beating the Celts back in late March. The Celtics were hopeful that they would be able to carry over the momentum from their win up in Toronto but honestly it was a toss up how they would start.

Luckily for us, the Celts played a pretty solid opening quarter. After trading baskets for the first few minutes, the Celtics defense eventually settled down and would hold the Pistons to 35% shooting and 6 turnovers. The result was a 30-16 lead most of which came via the 6th Man Of The Year aka MVP Isaiah Thomas. IT4 would essentially have a perfect quarter finishing with 9 points and 2 assists while not missing a shot. You could tell he was feeling it early, please see Exhibit A)

Isaiah plays with such a cocky confidence you almost have to respect it. Constantly you’ll see him strut around the court, chest out, just talking tons of trash and straight dominating people. He plays with almost too much irrational confidence, but when he is hot shit is he fucking hot. The only way I can really describe it is to tell you to look at other players who come from the same area in Seattle. Jason Terry, Nate Robinson, Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley. Aside from Avery, you could say Terry and Nate played with this certain swagger and confidence. Isaiah is no different. May I present to you all Exhibit B)

The decisions he makes sometimes make you want to pull your hair out, but I urge you, don’t fight it. The way Isaiah has played since being 100% healthy will make this team a problem come playoffs, quote me on that. When things are good for him they are truly good and that can make us very dangerous. How good? This good, ladies and gentlemen Exhibit C)

Maybe the best part of this game was that the bench scored 73 of their 113 points, That’s ridiculous. Obviously almost half of that came from Isaiah, but both Jae Crowder (17 points) and Kelly Olynyk (12 points) played solid games as well. Being able to go 10 players deep and get that sort of contribution is something you won’t EVER see me complain about. To me that just speaks to their preparation and everyone doing their job.

In all honesty though, this game was won at the FT line. This has maybe been my biggest gripe down the stretch of this season because the Celts were losing games by missing FTs. Tonight they would go 33-34 and tell me to shut the fuck up. A ridiculous disparity in attempts (34 to 10) that more often then not we are on the wrong end of so I’ll take it.

This win came at a pretty good time too, because the Pacers also won which brought their win total to 35. Brooklyn played along and lost, which enabled the Celts to jump into the 7th spot. Again 7th or 8th makes no difference to me, especially if Isaiah keeps playing this way. Next up we have a date with Lebron in Cleveland and he is a mental midget so I fully expect to drink his tears.

Go Celtics.
