California Chrome's Owner Steve Coburn Does A 180 And Tearfully Apologizes To Robin Roberts on Good Morning America
NJ.com – It took two days, but California Chrome co-owner Steve Coburn finally delivered the interview many thought he should have given after his horse lost the 2014 Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown, as well as the apology that was called for after Saturday’s post-race rant.While speaking to Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America,” Coburn appeared to fight back tears as he apologized: “[I’m] very ashamed of myself,” he said. “I need to apologize to a lot of people, including my wife Carolyn. First of all, I need to apologize to the winners, they ran a beautiful race…I did not mean to take anything away from them.”
This Steve Coburn cat is next level crazy huh? I mean just a total loose cannon. Like I was all in on him yesterday when everybody expected him to apologize and instead he basically said horses not running in all 3 races of the Triple Crown was like picking on a retarded kid in a wheelchair. Sure the analogy made no sense, but I just liked the strength of his convictions. I liked how he wasn’t backing down or apologizing. Now he does a 180 and starts crying all over Good Morning America. Vintage LaDuca’ing. Bro you can’t flip flop like that. You had your chance to apologize yesterday and didn’t. It’s too late now. And why does he keep saying the reason he was so upset is because he wanted to win the Triple Crown for the people of America. Does he really think people are that devastated? There are only like 8 people in this country who care about Horse Racing. Get over yourself. I just can’t get a read on this dude. I’d say there is a 75% chance he is back to bashing people tomorrow.
PS – As I said after the race the beauty of the Triple Crown is that it’s so hard to win. That’s what makes it so compelling for non horse racing fans and the general public. That’s why everybody tunes in. Changing the rules would ruin the one last thing that still captures the average American’s attention in this sport.
