And the Pussification of America Continues: North Dakota Basketball Announcer Suspended For Using the Term “Choke Job” To Describe Team Choking In Recent Loss

Grandforksherald - UND announced Monday that North Dakota men’s basketball announcer Paul Ralston has been suspended from his play-by-play duties for two games due to comments he made after Saturday’s game against Northern Arizona. Ralston will not call UND’s Big Sky Conference game at Northern Colorado on Wednesday and the Bracketbuster game Saturday at Nebraska-Omaha. UND athletic director Brian Faison announced the suspension. Ralston interviewed UND coach Brian Jones shortly after North Dakota’s 74-72 overtime loss to Northern Arizona at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. UND held a narrow lead in the final minute of regulation, but Northern Arizona rallied to force overtime and eventually won the game.Ralston used the words “choke job” in his interview session with Jones.

This makes sense. I mean you can’t have radio announcer saying a college team choked when they choked. God for bid that happens. The really shouldn’t even be allowed to say the score. Just straight commentary on what is happening in the game. Guy misses shot, hits shot, ball is stolen etc. No opinions. No mention of who is winning. No good plays or bad plays. Just literally dictating what is happening on the court like you are reading a book or something. That way nobody gets their feelings hurt and everybody can hold hands and sing kumbaya together.
