since the state of Texas has no state income tax, how much would the Yankees have to outbid Texas to make the money even? $10 mil? More?

It's complicated because they pay taxes in all the states they play games. Obviously the home games being half still makes it a significant number but it's not an easy calculation. New York's tax rate if you're in NYC is about 10%.

I would say more- here are the rates-

New York City:3.648% of income over 90K
New York State: 6.85%

Assuming he keeps an apartment in the city, that's over 10%.
