I use the snap traps. the old ones not those black plastic ones, those ones suck dick. Put some peanut butter on the trigger, but put it on the underpart of the trigger and not the top. and just put a little not a lot this will make the mouse have to contort its body to get the peanut butter which will cause it to set off the trigger. i found that putting the PB on the top of the trigger, even inside that little box part specifically for the PB (or cheese) doesnt work and the mice just eat from the side and dont set off the trigger.

Snap traps are extremely effective on many rodent types. Left the side door open this summer and a mouse got in the house for roughly 16 hours. The snap took him out quickly. It also took out 5-7 chipmunks as well. They were burrowing under my front steps and lawn and seemed to be multiplying every time I turned around. Between the snap trap and the neighbors cat it was mayhem.

Had one run in from the deck last month. Gave the cat 10 minutes to intercept it and let nature take its course but it was useless. I cornered it, trapped it under an aquarium net and took it out with a tacking hammer.

If I had to do it over again I'd probably go with a ball peen hammer.
