Depends where you are, but I'd say 75% of the time cards are quicker.

-AND-

The main reason I use a card 98% of the time is simply because I don't want to walk around like I'm Mr. Bojangles with $3.58 in change in my pocket at all times.

Where is it quicker to do a card swipe/wait for confirmation/signature/get your cash back than just hand over a $10 and get $3.58 back?

Oh I'm thinking more along the lines of 1. swipe card 2. enter code 3. say "see ya later" to the muttonhead behind the counter dying to get rid of some excess nickels.

LOL @ the people who didn't read the article. Debit card use is still skyrocketing, and that is lumped in with "cash".

Tipping on a card hurting the server = myth

One last thing......I've never received the wrong change back from a cashier when using my debit card. Cash sucks.
