I think it's time for me to move over to the Darkside and get a Mac for Christmas.

Don't think I need an Air and they seem to trade off quite a few things for the size/weight

The Pros have a better obsolescence cushion than the lower end models. I like that pick. It doesn't look like you can upgrade the RAM down the road but at 4GB it's doubtful you'd really ever have to. What are they charging on that website for it? It won't let me see.

Basically that's a machine that you'll be happy with for 4-5 years, minimum.

Oh, the one-button mouse. You either love it or you hate it. Veteran Mac users adore the elegance and simplicity; switchers bemoan the loss of a second (or third) mouse button. Of course, the problem is easily fixed by either holding down the Control button or -- wait for it -- buying a two-button mouse.

On a laptop, you've got another option. MacSupport points out this simple method of using a "two-finger tap" in place of a right click. To set things up, follow these steps.

In the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane, select "Trackpad Gestures" under the Trackpad section. From there, select "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click" and you're all set. Now, tapping the trackpad with two fingers will execute a right click.

you can also just click the right side of the trackpad for a right click too.

never used a mouse, nor held a key to pull up a right click.

Also, don't bother with the air. size/weight of the regular model isn't obtrusive.

that's what threw me off, checked them out at Best Buy on Saturday.

The MacBook Pro 13-inch as is would already be lighter than my current laptop, so I would rather keep the functionality and not trade off with an Air.
