figures that the signing of lee to a 1 year deal (to put up .280/20/90 with gold glove defense) while waiting for pujols, adrian, prince, etc to hit the market would be too complex for you to comprehend.

Anyone who thinks Lackey and Beckett will be as bad next year as they were this year has no clue how baseball works. Any team in baseball would kill to have those two as their number #3 and #4 starters, and a regression to career averages adds a significant number of wins to the Sox total.

Except they're being paid like #1 and #2 starters.

In the supposedly post-PED era it is a difficult thing to do.

But what else would you use? And what is the cutoff for "aging"? 30?

I guess what I mean is that Beckett hasn't really been lights out for the Red Sox. So why would you weigh his time in Florida the same as his time in Boston?

Same for Lackey.

How else are you going to make a predictive stat line? Darts? Listen to the delusional ramblings of a basement dwelling sped who wants to get facefucked by Derek Lee?

Beckett's had two seasons that are outliers, '06 and '10. He's had a pretty standard level of performance over his career FLA and BOS.

I guess I understand hating on him for his contract, and why people get all pissy when he doesn't mow people down like Schilling in his prime, but overall he's a pretty good pitcher. Two out of 5 years in Boston being sub-par aren't going to win him too many fans, though he wasn't as bad last year as it looked.

Edit: For the record, I wish he was Hanley too.
