All I saw was a poorly done sports story about a youth soccer game on a local site/paper. Kind of a staple, along with Pop Warner, Little League, hockey, etc.

What am I missing?

The bold type is hysterical. Obviously a parent wrote it and tried to get every kids name in the paper so they could all feel good.

Swampscott Blue Fury falls to Salem 2-0

Swampscott —
The U10 Swampscott Blue Fury played their second game of the year against Salem in an Essex County Youth Soccer League game. The contest was played Saturday under blue skies and sunshine.

It was very evident early on the Blue Fury had practiced hard in recent weeks and came to play and with Heshi Muntie manning the goal, the Fury played hard.

Early in the half, great touch-passing by Aiden O’Brien and Murphy Bachner led to a couple scoring changes. O’Brien was all over the field in pursuit of the tie-breaking goal.

The defense played great early in the game as well. Liam Callahan, Jamie Boots-Ebinfield and Isaac Green made sure Salem did not reach the Swampscott goal.

As play continued in the first half, Salem began to make some offensive headway. But Muntie was up to the challenge, stopping three shots. Ilya Pindrus and Ivan Kadurov also made sure the Fury produced a couple scoring chances on the Salem keeper, showing great speed in running the pitch.

Later in the first half, Freddie and Russell Paster combined with O’Brien to set up a scoring chance for Pindrus. The boys were definitely challenging the bigger Salem players at this point in the game, especially Will Talabien.

As the second half began the team from Salem appeared to want to take over. Despite some solid defense from the squad, Salem took a 1-0 lead on a great shot to the upper left corner of the net, beating new goalie Russell Paster.

As the second half continued, the offense led by Kadurov, Pindrus and Callahan tried to even the score. Unfortunately, the Salem defense played well. On the other end, Russell Paster was doing his best Tukka Rask impression and stopping everything shot at him.

With the crowd of parents cheering, Issac Green and Freddie Paster, along with Kadurov, continued to challenge Salem at every possession for the ball.

As the second half continued, Russell Paster continued his outstanding play in net by making four more great saves. At the offensive end, Pindrus and Talabien sent Muntie in for a chance to score, but a solid defense play by Salem came to their rescue. After another save by Russell, Salem added a late goal for the 2-0 final score.

The Blue Fury next plays this Saturday at noon in Amesbury.

Will

Ivan and Will don't belong. Those guys are named after Conquerors and Terribles.

The rest are snatches. Especially Aiden and Murphy.

I don't mind Liam or Ivan.
Aiden is the new Michael, I know 3 people who have named their sons Aiden. A name not mentioned on the list but probably should be is Andy. Every Andy I've ever encountered was a flaming pansy. I'd rather a boy/girl name like Pat or Leslie than Andy.... That is all.
