Anyone ever have a sprinkler system put in? How much does it cost (obviously depends on size of yard and how many heads they install?) My lawn is in rough shape due to me cutting too low and not watering enough during the heat wave a couple months ago. Then we started to get crab grass and I pretty much gave up after that.

Thats funny you should mention this. I called a guy today to come out and give me an estimate for just such a system. Too much fucking watering... Your yard doesn't look too bad, nothing a little H2O and some crab grass killer/fertilizer wouldn't fix. If I ever hear back from the yahoo I'll give you the estimate.

Is there a local lawn care company like Tru-green Chemlawn where you live? I understand its a few bucks a week and they come and spray it down with miracle grow type shit.

thats a google images photo. my lawn is in worse shape but thats the best pic i could find while searching "dead grass"

i got one guy coming sat morning and left another guy a voicemail

3 neighbors in a row across the street all have sprinkler systems and their lawns look pissah.

I paid Scotts $45 or so a session and they came like every 6 weeks from March up until a couple weeks ago. Didn't notice any difference. I'm too lazy / don't have time to water my lawn on a regular basis.

A buddy of mine while on the golf course offered a few guys on the crew some cash to do his lawn (install an irrigation system) on days off... his lawn is spectacular.

My folks quit using Scotts this summer after using them for 20 some odd years. Absolutely no difference was noticed. My Dad was pretty pissed.

Tell him to have some patience, for Chrissakes. It usually takes in the 22nd or 23rd year. What did he expect, overnight magic?

But the ground had been treated with nutrients for 20 years.....once they deplete he may see some effect.

I gave Scott's a shot about three years ago, they sucked. I do a spring treatment, water quite a bit, and a fall treatment. And I have a nice lawn.
